The Conception & Birth of Christie Media Uganda

Christie Media was conceived through a journey of prayer, discernment, and spiritual inspiration.

In the year 2021, Mr. James Godwin Ofoi-Mungu, who at the time was undergoing discipleship formation under Teaching Ministry, Catholic Charismatic renewal, Kampala Archdiocese, dedicated his life more deeply to the service of God and developed a strong desire to serve the Lord in an extraordinary way. Recognizing the gifts and skills he possessed in modern technology and digital communication, he began to pray and discern how these talents could be used more effectively for the mission of evangelization.

For almost three years, he spent time in prayer during Holy Mass and in Eucharistic Adoration, seeking divine guidance and asking the Lord to reveal how his knowledge of media and technology could be used to serve the Church. Good gracious, a decisive moment occurred during the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Uganda by Kampala Archdiocese, held at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine, Namugongo that started on 18th July, and ended on 23rd July 2023.

On a Saturday 22nd July 2023, during Eucharistic adoration and ministry led by Late Msgr. Expedito Magembe of Mount Zion prayer center bukalango. And in that moment of deep prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament, as he (Mr. James) once again surrendered his desire to serve God through his talents, was drawn from the physical to spiritual realm, Mr. James heard a statement spoken by a deaf person beside him which resonated deeply with the call he had been discerning, though confusing at the moment. The message was; "If those who cannot come here could be part of this beautiful experience wherever they are." When James turned to the person beside him (from where the voice came) to give his thought on the matter, but realized he was deaf (He was being signed to by another person who sat beside him). This confused Mr. James to the core, but he decided to seek clarity in prayer.

The following day, on a Sunday of 23rd July 2023, during the closing Mass of the Jubilee celebration at the Basilica, a powerful confirmation came through the words of His Grace. Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, who in his homily remarked: "As the Catholic Charismatic Renewal celebrates 50 years of existence in Uganda, where are the media? It should be having its media to capture this experience for the whole world." His comment/remark provided a clear sense of divine direction and affirmed the need for a structured media ministry dedicated to evangelization.

Out of this spiritual discernment, confirmation, and guidance  from several Charismatic renewal leaders both at the national and diocesan level, Christie Media was born, as a tool for digital evangelization.

The name “Christie” is derived from the word meaning “Follower of Christ.” It reflects the central identity and mission of the ministry: to raise disciples who use modern communication tools to proclaim the Gospel.
